Laurie McQuillan, AHSAA Board Member (70's Rep), passed away on January 5, 2007.  Below is a message sent to the AHSAA Board by former webmaster, Sid Grant.  A link concerning Laurie's passing has been placed on the AHSAA website in tribute to her memory. May she rest in peace.

I am not sure that all members knew how important Laurie was to the AHS Alumni. She was one of the major forces of the 1998 reunion in St. Augustine.
Without her it would not have been the success it was. She setup the first http://www.ahsalumni.com/ website and procured the server where the website resided from 1999 through into 2005. Even though I maintained the website during that time she helped me with it in many ways. One area, she maintained the 1970's directory. She wrote the initial charter for the Alumni Association. Laurie also created the emblem that is used by the Association. And of course she served on the alumni board for several years, while at the same time earning a Master Degree, running a family, starting a business and under going treatment for cancer.

Laurie was a fine person and a good friend. She will be missed.

A Message from the Newly Elected AHSAA President:

June 28, 2006

Fellow AHS Alumni, Faculty and Friends:

Over the years my involvement with the Antilles High School has varied from 1980's Representative to Alumni Coordinator.  Today I write as the newly elected President of the Alumni Board.  Please do not take that as a self-praising statement, our election turn out was so low it is hard to grow an ego over it.  Either way, I am ready to get to work.  We will have all the newly elected officers posted on the website as soon as possible.

My last message ignited a lot of responses from many Alumni from all classes.  As you all sit back and tell stories to your kids or grandkids I bet stories of our Tropical Alma Mater always creep in.  It is the Alumni Association's goal to keep those stories alive.  If you are not already a member of the association, please join.  Do it for yourself, your classmates, your teachers, your Mom, your Dad - whoever!  Do it as a favor to me - I am not above begging.  I would also like you to consider us as a choice for any donations you give throughout the year.  We are a charitable organization so your donations are tax deductible,

If you have not visited our new Website, I encourage you to do so.  Please go to www.ahsalumni.com  I ask for your patience as we are just getting this website up and running.  There is some confusion on becoming a "member" of the association and a "member" of the forum and directory.  Currently one does not equal the other.  Our goal is to make our site a premier site and focal point of all of our communications.

Our biggest challenge will be FUNDRAISING!  If you are unaware we provide an annual scholarship and the Maxie R. Williams award to each graduating class.  We will also host AHS's 55th Anniversary Reunion in 2008 so start making plans for a Pirate Party in the summer of '08.  Since we have lofty goals I hereby challenge all decades of Alumni and Faculty to assist us in our fundraising goals.  How does $5000.00 per decade sound?  You will hear more from your decade representatives.  Thanks in advance for your support.

GO PIRATES!
